Bridge Festival at Digby Pines: April 14-17, 2025

A 3-day event of bridge, bridge instruction ,“tricks of the trade” … and more bridge!... with renowned players, instructors and workshop leaders Kathi Macnab and Jo Ann Lynds. Come with a team, a group or on your own. All organized (see schedule below) and packaged in with a comfortable resort room, full hot breakfasts and lunches plus all the amenities Digby Pines has to offer.

NEVER played bridge before and curious about the game? This festival is for you too! The event will have a special table for ABSOLUTE beginners-it is time to learn the game.

Monday - April 14, 2025

4pm-6pm: Arrive and check-in.

Tuesday - April 15, 2025

8:00-9:30am:  Full hot breakfast in Churchill’s Restaurant

9:30-12:00:  Bridge Workshop: Using the DOUBLE to the Best of your Advantage. 

There are so many uses of the double-not all for penalty. Improve your game by adding the RED card.

Noon-1:30pm: Lunch in Churchill’s Restaurant.

1:30-3:00pm:  20 boards with a theme, to play and enjoy

5:00-5:45pm:  Meet for pre-dinner cocktails. Kathie & Jo Ann will answer any questions from the afternoon game.

5:45-7:00pm:  Dinner in Churchill’s Restaurant

• On their own 

7:00-9:00pm: Random-dealt hands for a relaxing game of bridge with your new friends. Social bridge played duplicate-style.

Wednesday - April 16, 2025

8:00-9:30am:  Full hot breakfast in Churchill’s Restaurant 

9:30-12:00:  Bridge Workshop Assumptions, Inferences and Conclusions. So many things happen at the bridge table, from the bidding, opening lead & defense.  Reading some of these clues will vastly improve your game.

Noon-1:30pm:  Lunch in Churchill’s Restaurant.

1:30-3:00pm:  20 boards to play and enjoy. Questions during the game-cash in one of your bridge coins to get a little help.

5:00-5:45pm:  Meet for pre-dinner cocktails. Kathie & Jo Ann will answer any questions from the afternoon game.

5:45-7:00pm:  Dinner in Churchill’s Restaurant

9:30-9:45 am:  Organize your luggage for checkout

9:45-12:00:  Supervised bridge. Feel free to ask for help-it will cost a bridge coin!

1:30-3:00pm:  Last bridge game! Some awards for performance throughout the festival.

Festival Leaders: Kathi Macnab & Jo Ann Lynds

Great friends and bridge instructors for three decades, Kathie and Jo Ann have been teaching bridge at sea since 2000.  They are recognized as “the dynamic duo” at the bridge table at sea and on land!

Kathie is a former bridge club owner in Halifax, and an ABTA Master Teacher who continues to develop the best ways to engage absolute beginners and help expand bridge knowledge to the experienced player. Kathie is the former president of the Canadian Bridge Federation and is an Emerald Life Master, ranked in the top 1.5% of ACBL members.

Jo Ann is the teaching force behind her local bridge club in Truro NS. There she has been teaching all levels of bridge from absolute beginners to advanced players. She is a Certified Better Bridge and ACBL teacher. Jo Ann is an accomplished Gold Life Master with over 3200 master points, and an ACBL Certified Bridge Director.
